Yuma,
CO (2V6)
6/1/02
Yuma is out on the eastern plains of Colorado, one of many small
towns along Hwy 34 with airports that include Akron, Fort Morgan, Brush
and Wray. We got off to a late start and had a smooth flight
out but picked up the usual thermal-caused light turbulence on the way
home. It's a relatively short walk into town from the airport.

65 Tango's home. A common hanger,
but with individual doors. Besides airplanes, people have stored,
among other things, dentists' chairs, hot tubs and various
cars. I moved my '83 RX7 in just to conform. It's an easy fit
under the wing. |
It was a hazy day. The small town
of Roggen. |

The Yuma airport. The only other plane
on the ramp was this crop duster. Note: the airport is only attended
on week-days so plan your fuel needs accordingly. |
About a 1/4 mile from the airport is
your first food option, Pizza Hut. There's also a Subway attached to
a C-Store nearby. |

Here's that Hudson Hornet you've been

Downtown Yuma. |
|

There are 2 restaurant choices
downtown. Take note, both of them are closed on Sunday.
Fernando's is Mexican (duh!) |

The "Bakery" looks more
interesting. They have a deli menu as well as typical breakfast
items. |
|

Pretty, tree-shaded residential
streets are the norm as you approach downtown.
