Chappell, NE (CNP)

It always amazes me that there are these small specks of towns that have airports.  Or, at least a maintained runway.  Most don't have active services, but a surprising number do.  Chappell is unattended and you can get fuel on request if you call ahead.

The airport is a mile from town and an easy walk.  We parked in the runup area by the numbers "12" which was closest to town in order to save 3/4 mile of additional walking.  I didn't think this would be a problem since traffic was nil.  This wasn't a breakfast flight although we did discover that the one restaurant in town was open, so it's a possibility in the future.

The airport sits between the Interstate and lake.

To get out from the west side, we followed the fence till we found this opening.

Never know what you'll discover.  A B-24 crashed here during WWII.
